The Circle — The Solar Biennale 2022
for Marjan van Aubel Studio
The Circle is a large-scale reflective sculpture created for the first edition of The Solar Biennale in Rotterdam. Functioning both as a sculptural object and a public seating element, the mirrored circular structure moved between different locations throughout the city during the biennale. The work invited visitors to gather, reflect, interact, and engage with the sun as a shared source of energy and connection.
Initiated by Marjan van Aubel and Pauline van Dongen, The Solar Biennale explored how solar design can shape public space through experience, participation, and atmosphere rather than purely technical application.
For this project, I worked on the spatial design and development of the installation as part of the team at Marjan van Aubel Studio.
