SHOWROOM

SHOWROOM was an installation and exhibition presentation developed by Polly’s Picture Show for Kunstvlaai INexactly THIS in Amsterdam.

The project was inspired by the cultural budget cuts introduced in the Netherlands in 2012, a period in which subsidies and funding for the arts rapidly diminished. In response to this changing cultural landscape, Polly’s Picture Show experimented with alternative forms of exhibition-making and presentation.

The installation took the form of a commercial showroom. A mirrored wall reflected the entire presentation, while elevator music filled the space, creating an atmosphere somewhere between exhibition, shop, and stage set. Visitors could choose to view the individual works separately or experience the showroom as a single immersive installation.
