Out of Shape was developed during a five-week residency at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee, Belgium. Created by Polly’s Picture Show, the publication brings together the work of nine artists while preserving the individuality and autonomy of each contribution.
Rather than functioning as a traditional catalogue, the publication was conceived as an autonomous artwork — an exhibition in a box. Each participating artist submitted an image of their work, after which Polly’s Picture Show selected specific printing techniques, colours, formats, and paper types to reproduce the works in an edition of 50 copies.
Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Boîte-en-valise, the publication allows each work to maintain its own identity while creating a dialogue between the different contributions through the format of the box itself.
